The package contains 3 spiral bound books and 3 markers that can be filled with water. Each books has a different theme with animals in different environments and I like that at the top of each page, there are 4 animal pictures that the child can look for while they are uncovering the scene. It helps to build concentration, and makes this is a learning opportunity, not just a toy.My toddler likes to paint so this is a great reusable activity, with no cleanup. The books come with marker-style pens that can be filled with water but the water doesn’t flow quick enough through the tips and my kids got a little frustrated using them. Instead, we use a little paintbrush dipped in a small amount of water and that works great. Even though we are using more water, the pages still dry within a few minutes so that by the time the book is completed, we can almost start again at the beginning.We are really enjoying using these.Love these paint with water books. They will be x-mas presents for my great grandchildren. Love the fact that the water pen can be refilled…great buy.I liked the books but the pens leakI took these on vacation for the kids to use during hotel down time. I even soaked the tips in water just ahead of use as suggested, but they took so much pressure to get water to continue flowing into, they were just frustrating rather than fun. And, as other reviews stated, the pens leak. Back they go.These are so much fun my four year old asks to use them constantly! I do wish the marker was more durable and could use some improvement when unscrewing them to fill with water. I like that they are reusable so my daughter can use them over and over once they dry. The illustrations are cute but I wish the books where of better quality.I love water coloring books for less mess and fewer items to bring along. These kinds of books always work well for us on road trips. I've bought several in the past; our family has loved using the variety of books from Melissa & Doug. These don't really compare to those for quality.The books themselves are ok. There's a picture to reveal with the water pen on each page with some search and find suggestions. The pictures and words in some cases are kind of odd, such as a walrus that is labeled "Sea Lions" and what looks like an antelope is labeled "Goat". A seahorse is labeled a "hippocampus" which it technically is if you were planning on using the Latin genus for this one animal but not the others. One dinosaur is labeled "Brontosaurus" which we all know (from hours of kids television) is not the preferred nomenclature these days. The printing is oddly spaced, some words capitalized while others are not, some words bold. Clearly, this was not put out by a native English speaker. Because of that, I think these books would be best for non-readers (ages 2-4).The biggest complaint was that the pens didn't work very well. One of the 3 included worked great, the other 2 you really had to press on to get the water to come out. Perhaps that's a problem that will be resolved with more use, but for our first attempt it was frustrating. Also, after one afternoon of playing with them, some of the white "disappearing" stuff on the pages got rubbed/scratched off without rough use.If you're just looking for some inexpensive travel toys for a toddler, these will work fine. But you might want to bring along a water pen from another set you own.I believe this will be better when our son gets a bit older. Right now he scratches the pages and ruins themThe main good thing about this product is that it does what it is supposed to. You're not getting duped at all with this product, and I can see it being entertaining for my 2 year old. You fill the pens with water and brush on the picture to reveal the scene. My picture "vanished" in a little over 8 minutes. The books are reusable and much cheaper than imagineInk! or melissa and doug products, which is a huge plus.There are a few downsides however. This is not by any means a pristine product. The letters on the pages are oddly spaced and as mentioned in another review, the ladybug and seahorse are called by their scientific names. This would be confusing for many kids. The printing on the scenes is also not perfect and the tips of the markers are similar to paint markers, meaning when my 2 year old pushes really hard with the pen on the page, the tip will probably break. Also, maybe my expectations were off but I thought the blank pages that you "paint" would be perfectly white starting out but the scene is printed visibly so theres not much surprise. If you want this for a long road trip and not much else, this would fit the bill but I would not recommend it as a gift.What makes this watercolour book so special is that it is not a regular colour book which can be thrown out after colouring, it is a reusable one which can be used to colour any number of items. After 10min of colouring, it will fade away completely so we colour it again. It helped to improve my 3 yr. old son's colour perfection and his drawing skills. It is very strong and kids can't tear it off. My son is learning while playing with this colour book.Spelling mistakes in the text. Pens don't work even after water has been in them and held upside down to soak into the tip. Waste of money. Don't bother.The little person they were bought for was very disappointed.Very happy with my purchase.My baby is 2y.o and loves drawing so I got her these and she is very excited.She spent hours having fun exploring the animals and dinosaurs.Will keep the child occupied during road trips. Good fun for the child.As mentioned above not all the English spelling is correct and one of the animals is in a foreign language not English
